Tee - Thor 2 Homework

Homework: Thor 2
Thor: The Dark World is an American superhero film staring the Marvel Comic character Thor. I was produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the eight instalment of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alan Taylor is the director of the movie and there are great stars like Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Christpher Hemsworth. Thor 2 was produced by Kevin Feige. This movie is the following to the movie Thor, by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Larry Lieber. This sequel was announced after the crossover film Marvels The Avengers. The production budget for the film is not yet applicable although we know it was a big budget movie. Thor 2 has a lot of animated features and effects that would require a lot of money, so the budget must have been quite large.

Filming was was expected to begin in London in the summer or 2012 and Principal photography began on September 10, 2012 in Bourne Wood, Surrey. At the end of that month, a main character, Jaimie Alexander was injured on the London film et, after she slipped while walking in the rain. In October  production moved to Iceland and the Iceland review said that it was one of the most expensive film projects ever to take place in Iceland. In late October, filming was at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich in London. Also in October 2012, Disney announced that the film would be released in 3D. Alexander tweeted that principal photography wrapped on December 14, 2012. In August, IMAX Corporation and Marvel Entertainment announced that the film would be digitally re-mastered into the IMAX 3D format and released into IMAX 3D theatres internationally beginning October 30, 2013. The film's visual effects were completed by seven special effects studios, including Double Negative and Luma Pictures. The film's mid-credits scene was directed by James Gunn, the director of Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy. The soundtrack for the film was release digitally on October 28 2013.

In March 2013, a two-issue comic book was announced to be released in June before film is released. In July at the Diego Comic-Con International, Hiddleston introduced footage from the film to audiences in character as Loki. Also in July, Gameloft announced that a mobile video game titled, Thor the Dark World: The Official Game, would be released in conjunction with the release of the film in November. In August 2013, Marvel released a second trailer for the film ad part of YouTube's Geek Week. Later in the month, the producer and some cast members presented footage at Disney's D23Expo. Also, in August 2012, Disney announced plans to promote the film with an attraction at Disneyland.

The world premier of the movie was on October 22, 2013 in London, at the Odeon Leicester Square. Pre-release audience tracking showed that interest for Thor: The Dark World was strong due to the film's association with the Avengers. The tracking shows that the film could gross over $75 million during its opening weekend in North America, which would surpass the $65.7 million opening of the first Thor film and could be the strongest November release of all time When the film was being promoted in October, the main character, Chris Hemsworth said that he is contracted for another Thor film and two more Avengers films. The age certificate for the movie ranges from 11-13 trough out the world because of the violence and intense sci-fi action; in the UK it is 12A. It is being released in approximately 60 countries all over the world, in many continents and the release dates go from October 30th to the 1st of February 2014.

What we learnt from making a swede.

What we learnt from making a swede:
Firstly we learnt how important pre-planning is, and how it allows filming to go smoothly if planned properly. If pre-planning is not done, production process becomes really difficult.

Production is the stage that we filmed and we found out it was very difficult to remember lines and to repeat scenes. We learnt that is is necessary that we are prepared. Editing was extremely hard as we had to look through all the scenes and select the best ones which took time. Also, getting everything in order and adding music was time consuming.
Another thing we learnt was that marketing is very important for a movie, especially for a no budget films, with unknown actors and directors, as the word needs to spread. Social teleworking sites and youtube are good ways to spread no budgets films as it is free and it can lead to being spread by word of mouth - which is also free.

Distribution

The first thing we done to get our swede from the hard drive to the views was the plan.
The internet was the key tool in enabling us to present our work in various ways. Such as, free social networking sites used to promote our work online to the audience as well as it being free which contributed to the promotion of our swede. Also, our own blogs were useful because it helped us to keep our work together and safe for people in our group to view and comment.

swede presentation production

Production:
We decided to use mean girls as our swede, since it is a well known film across the world.
The props we used was only a pieces of clothing, which were pink because in the film the main characters wore pink.
Filming was difficult, as you could hear students talking and traffic in the background
Planning/pre-production:
we looked at other swede based on mean girls
We re-watched the original film and picked out iconic quotes/phrases
Since we are a no budget film, we didn’t look for a finance source
We developed our own script and assigned our actors and directors
Production:
We recorded in a school as most of the scenes were set in a school (in the original movie)
We used natural light an no green screens and we wore simple costumes
Post production:
Editing: we used final cut pro to edit our swede. We also use the software to add music , which we had to download from YouTube first then convert to mp3 and add to the video.
We didn’t do any re- shoots as we didn’t think it was necessary
